Made up of three teams, starting with teams that go out for fun, and get more serious as we move up teams, with allstars skating for success
Why are we here?
to do the best we can do and have fun
To have fun, to show that we are more than some “nobody” team from a small rink, to earn medals
to have fun as a family and skate to make memories with our friends with the plus side of success
What did we do well? Could do better?
all stars- massive pb and an amazing season
The balance of off ice and relaxing time at skating worked really well and reflexes well on the scores we achieved. In the future we could do more big ice, and have one single person to do comp hair.
Ideas for ON ICE
challenges for people to try and complete in there own time
We should get more ice time because 45min will not be enough for us and we need more time so that we can improve more
Do more speed exercises and work on more difficult footwork to put in the programs.
Work on harder elements
Ideas for OFF ICE
make us do stretching at home
Do more team bonding exercises because we all need to trust each other more and get to know one another
More team bonding activities to show how everyone’s equal and learn to trust everyone in the team.
Team building activities rather than games
Theory work on how to do turns correctly etc
What’s important to you?
always skating our strongest team, although it’s nice to be fair to others you also need to think of the rest of the team so if a skater isn’t ready tell them.
Obviously just having fun is important but winning the medals does feel very good and is an important factor
Having a good skate at a competition and knowing the hard work has paid off. Having fun by challenging ourselves not by messing around.
Skating with a family that work hard together to get success and work out together as a team how we can achieve that
Competition day ideas?
try our best not to get stressed out. try to keep clam, coaches too .
What we did this season- staying calm and enjoying it, not making it a stressful day.
Don’t change anything in program as it makes it more stressful
How can we welcome new members better?
maybe have something like a get together or something like when we used to have the synchro sleepover ahaha and do some team bonding etc
Not have the “older one” and new ones separate and have us all mixed together occasionally
Making sure they skate with all the team members and get the chance to chat to all of them.
make simple step routines up before the on ice sessions so that they get more a feel for actually skating in a team. Let us show our programmes so they know how we actually skate
New rules for the team suggestions
What coaches say goes, parents do not have an influence on the team selection. Should be based on levels, attendance and if they fit in with the team.
Alternates have to work there way into the team, still have to show up, take part.
How can we challenge you?
more difficult turns etc
Put difficult elements in to challenge us but listen to us if we say that it does not work and we can all work something else out?
Getting us to try new things like duck under spirals and harder synchro elements to challenge us not just to challenge us individually but as a team.
Push us to do the harder elements like double twizzles and difficult turns in the programme even if someone can’t do it, they need to then work towards it so it can be skated in competition, without pushing for the harder moves, people won’t practice them
How can we improve the team selection process?
strongest skaters, not trying to be fair
Before and during the season look at office and on ice register of who attends and who puts in the most work throughout the season should get a place in the team- a space shouldn’t be expected, should work for it.
Skate people in the program to see how they pick it up.
Push for harder moves as a team activity and see who can/can’t do them.
