My favourite tips and ways to do these off ice from years of experience

Doing off ice ice jumps can be tricky – I know!

I used to try to jump off ice and couldn’t get then to feel the same. Trying to do three turns in shoes or rotating all off axis! I remember feeling like it wasn’t possible and had no benefit!

When I started coaching, I knew there must be a better way – I wanted my skaters to learn correctly so they could improve without ice time! I studied with some of the best coaches in the world over zoom and obtained an official British Ice Skating off ice qualification to teach these jumps. After years and many hours of teaching these in person weekly to my skaters I filtered out the best exercises and techniques that gave results!

Off Ice Jump myths

Doing off ice jumps doesn’t make a difference…
Totally not true. You can same time and money practising the jumps in shoes. It helps to build awareness, confidence and understanding of how they work so you can improve on the ice

You can’t do this without a coach…
Ideally, you would do this training with a coach guiding you on the ice as well, however, if you don’t have a regular coach OR they don’t teach you off ice, the information in this class is definitely useable to gain a great understanding of the elements that make these jumps – warmups / prep exercises / techniques / improving height and rotation and stretches.

Off ice is boring…
Off ice is only boring if you run out of ideas or don’t understand what you’re trying to work on. With clear goals and concepts to think about this class will give you plenty to work on and stay interested!

Off ice is dangerous…
There’s always a risk of injury with jumping. This is greatly reduced with correct warmup and prep drills. It’s also reduced in the right area, if you train in good supportive shoes ,with plenty of space, off ice jumping can be far less dangerous than on ice jumping.

I dare you to try this to see if it’s possible!
I dare you to learn and improve yours by watching this and learning a little more about jumping off ice.

Sound good? Please share!
If this sounds like something your coach or fellow skaters would like to know about, please share it with people you think it would benefit. I’m giving away a ton of value this week with the launch of this class and would love to help more people save time and money with this resource.

Thank you so much for your interest. Bend your knees and push forward to your next achievement on the ice!
